Thursday this week was Thurmon's first day at work. We had a four-hour window, what with the TTC restrictions on dog travel, and the travel time from home to work. I think I really only managed about two hours of work though - he was definitely a bit of a distraction. But there was only a minor dust-up with one dog when we arrived (a little territorialism going on), his interactions with the other dogs were fairly subdued (probably because I kept him on the leash) and he refrained from getting yippy and demanding, so there's hope for Thurmon to become a good workmate in the future.
Then last night was Thurmon's first party. Our friend Lima hosted an open house, and Thurmon wrangled himself an invitation. To get there we took Thurmon on his first street car ride. He would have loved to sniff in all the corners, steal the scarves and mittens, and gnaw on the genuine reindeer hide, but we kept him on his leash and distracted him with dropped crumbs (thanks Margot!) and a cosy spot on the kitchen carpet. Then he had a long walk and a subway ride home, meeting several very friendly people along the way. And finally to bed, an hour and a half later than usual - what a late-night adventure!
Addendum: Although we'd hoped his late night adventure would allow us to sleep in, it only gained us an extra 45 minutes. What does it take to tire this guy out?!
